Spray booms are custom built to length depending on the crop and how many nozzles per row are used. Boom sizes are available from 42 to 66 feet (12.8 to 20 meters). For most vegetables we use 3 nozzles on a 36-inch (91.4 -centimeter) row or 4 nozzles on a 40 or 42-inch (102 or 106-centimeter) row. For melons and bush tomatoes 7 nozzles are used on a 76 or 80-inch (1.9 or 2-meter) bed. For strawberries the nozzles are generally spaced close—5 nozzles on a 48-inch (1.2-meter) bed and 6 nozzles on a 60-inch (1.5-meter) bed.
